A past, present, and future rooted in Catalina
Established in 1959 at 401 Crescent Avenue, Leo’s Catalina Drugstore has long been more than Catalina Island’s only pharmacy. Known from the beginning as Avalon’s “uncommon corner drugstore,” it has served as both a trusted source for essential healthcare and a familiar place to find the practical, personal, and unexpected. In 2017, Leo’s became part of Catalina Island Health, strengthening its ability to keep prescriptions, medical supplies and everyday necessities accessible here on the island.
Over the years, the store has grown into two distinct but complementary parts. The pharmacy helps island residents access prescriptions and medical supplies without routinely leaving for the mainland. The gift shop welcomes residents and visitors with souvenirs, cards, toys, seasonal items, beach essentials and the kind of unexpected finds that make an old-fashioned corner store fun to explore.
The products on the shelves have changed. The way prescriptions are requested has changed. Avalon itself has changed. But the role of Leo’s has remained remarkably consistent: be useful, be welcoming, and be here when the island needs us.

Leo’s is built around people who know the store, know the community and understand that a little personal attention can make even a simple errand easier.
Dr. Lauryn Reinhardt
Pharmacist
An experienced pharmacist with a diverse background in clinical pharmacy, compounding, and public health. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in New York. Outside of work, Lauryn enjoys spoiling her two cats.
Veronica Pedroza
Manager
Born and raised on Catalina Island, Veronica has been with Leo’s Catalina Drugstore for over 20 years. She knows most local residents by name and is ready to assist you with any retail and pharmacy questions or needs.
Cameron Hubert
Director of Administrative Operations
Cameron joined the pharmacy team in 2018 and took over operations in 2023, managing retail workflows and regulatory compliance. Outside of work, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife and their two young kids.

Leo’s became part of Catalina Island Health in 2017, bringing Catalina’s only pharmacy into the island’s broader network of healthcare services.
The relationship strengthens local access to prescriptions, over-the-counter care and medical equipment while allowing Leo’s to remain the distinctive neighborhood pharmacy and gift shop the community already knows. Leo’s continues to operate as an independent local pharmacy, including its established insurance relationships.
In other words, Leo’s stays Leo’s, now with the support and shared purpose of an organization dedicated to keeping more essential care on Catalina Island.
